After working for a number of national daily newspapers (including La Dernière Heure and La Libre), Sarah Freres became a journalist for the independent magazine Imagine, a leading media on ecological and social change in Belgium. She covers migration, gender and environmental issues across the board. Since 2022, she has been carrying out extensive documentation work on climate loss and damage, a key theme at COP27 and most certainly at the next COP28. Sarah has won several awards, including the prize for constructive journalism in 2023, and was elected president of the Association of Professional Journalists (AJP) to defend the profession of journalism and quality information.
