Felipe Maia is a journalist, ethnomusicologist and DJ. Whether writing, researching or playing, his work is centered around Latin American electronic and popular music, especially baile funk and its sub-genres. He has written for various media in Brazil, the United States, England and France, such as VICE, Pitchfork, OkayAfrica and Trax Magazine, in addition to being a contributor to the newspaper Folha de S. Paulo and the websites Remezcla and Resident Advisor. Today, he also dedicates himself to his doctoral work around the phenomenon of "paredões", the big walls of speakers that are at the heart of baile funk parties in the favelas of Brazil. Moreover, beyond having ignited parties in Brazil, Europe and Africa with these sounds, since 2018 he is resident at Rinse France with BAÏLE: radio show flagship in the dissemination of baile funk as a genre of global club music.
