Ramona Strugariu is a Member of the European Parliament elected in Romania in 2019 and is affiliated to the Renew Europe Group. She is a member of the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home affairs and a substitute in the Committee on Budgetary Control, as well as a Vice-chair of the Delegation to the EU-Moldova Association Parliamentary Committee. In 2019 she initiated and became the co-president of the Media Working Group in the European Parliament. The topic of media pluralism and media freedom has been central to her political activity, having negotiated as LIBE rapporteur both the LIBE opinion to JURI on the Anti-SLAPP Directive and the LIBE opinion to CULT on the European Media Freedom Act.
